When we talk about the idea of investing, one of the first principles we often hear as a little kids is, “Garbage in…garbage out.” Basically, what you put in is what you will get out. That makes logical sense. I think this principle is true for us in many areas of our lives, including our spirituality. So, if you are investing in negative, complaining, or sinful things, do you think the outcomes would be positive, encouraging, and righteous? Not likely. One of the reasons I love the passage of scripture that we are going to read today is that it challenges us with what we are putting into our minds or what we are thinking about, as well as putting those things into practice.
Next Step: Re-read Philippians 4:6-8 and make a note of what sticks out to you. What kinds of things should we spend our time on? What will our lives look like if we invest in godly things?
