I Can Make a DifferenceSample

Read Together
Jesus said His followers are “salt” and “light.” What is that supposed to mean?
It means Jesus will help you make choices that show love for God and love for others.
When you make choices like that, you make a difference for the people around you. You shine a light so others can see what Jesus is like.

Talk Together
- What are some choices people make that don’t shine a light on what Jesus is like?
- What are some choices people make that do shine a light on what Jesus is like?
- Choices that are “salt” and “light” aren’t always easy. Talk about a choice that would be really hard for you to make without Jesus’ help.
Focus Together
Do this focus activity as a family so your child can repeat it on their own when they face difficult situations.
- Close your eyes and point to your mouth.
- Say, "God made my mouth to make a difference."
- Repeat as often as you like, pointing to a different part of your body each time. Examples: mind, hands, feet, heart, eyes, etc.
Study Together
Read today's Bible story as a family. Talk about how it can help you remember this truth: I can make a difference.
