What's the Point? (A Study in Ecclesiastes: Part 3)Sample

DIG IN!
Spend some time continuing to read sequentially through Ecclesiastes, chapters 9 and 10 today. Maybe try reading the passage aloud with a friend. As you read, look for the two statements of an ‘evil’ done or seen under the sun. What implications may these two observations have on our expectations for daily life?
Ask Yourself: Have you ever found yourself feeling that life is ‘unfair’ when something did not go the way you expected? Did this impact your relationship or conversation with God in any way?
Pause to Pray: Thank God for giving us nuggets of wisdom through the book of Ecclesiastes. Ask Him to help you trust your days to Him and release any earthly expectations we may hold too tightly ‘under the sun.’
Take the Next Step: Choose a portion of today’s reading and determine to memorize it. Start by writing it out and placing it somewhere you will see it easily throughout the day.
About this Plan

God created us to find meaning in our lives. But we live in a broken world where we’re continually frustrated in our search. So, what’s the point of living life? This is the question the Teacher in Ecclesiastes is asking. At first, the message of this wisdom book seems to lead to despair, but in fact points to the hope of life found in God alone.
