Daily Bible Reading – June 2022: God’s Renewing Word of New Life in the SpiritSample

June 2
Introduction
Today’s reading continues the apostle Paul’s discussion of what it means to live under God’s grace by being set free from the bondage of sin and becoming “slaves of righteousness.”
Scripture Reading
Romans 6:15-23
Today’s Key Verse: Romans 6:18
You were set free from sin and became the slaves of righteousness.
Reflect
Verse 15 is a rhetorical question similar to that in verse 1 from yesterday’s reading. How does Paul contrast being a slave to sin with being a slave of righteousness in today’s reading? What does living a new life as a slave of righteousness mean to you?
Pray
Holy God, I surrender and dedicate myself to your will so that I might become a slave of righteousness for holy purposes. Obedience to your will results in my being put right with you. In union with Christ Jesus, I now have your gift of eternal life. Thanks be to God! Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Romans 8:1-17: The apostle Paul describes life in the Spirit.
