Prayers for DadsSample

Fatherhood Is Priesthood
By Danny Saavedra
Heavenly Father, I thank You for the High Priest we have in Your Son Jesus. Thank You we have a High Priest who “understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin” (Hebrews 4:15 NLT) and intercedes for us (Hebrews 7:25). Lord, I pray for dads in the faith, my brothers in Christ, that they would remember their role as priest, shepherd, and pastor of their children and household as spiritual leaders. As it says in Titus 2:2 (NIV), I pray that by Your Spirit and work in their lives, they would “be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.” Like Job, I pray they would find themselves on their knees regularly interceding for their children. I pray, as Paul declared, that these dads would be able to say to their kids, “Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1 NIV). Lord, as the Good Shepherd, refresh them, restore them, so their cup runs over into the lives of the children You’ve entrusted to them. May these children see the face of Christ in the lives of their fathers. Amen.
