New Life In Christ

DAY 4 OF 7

Bible - The Word of God to you The Bible is fascinating. It is a compilation of 66 books written by at least 40 authors over approximately 1600 years in 3 different continents. The authors ranged from kings, doctors and priests to fishermen and cattle ranchers. Despite the time span and number of writers, it is without errors and forms a perfect whole inspired by God. It is truly God’s book but it is more than a book, it is an invitation to a journey of discoveries and spiritual treasures. The Bible is like a beautifully woven quilt, labored on by many hands, connecting pieces of different sizes and styles whose final result is a harmonious unit that can bring heartwarming shelter to the coldest winters of the human soul. It is the inspired Word of God, revealed to us so we can know more about Him and about ourselves. The message of the Bible has value to every single person in any walk of life. It is read by kings and presidents as well as in prison cells. Its content challenges the most sophisticated intellectuals and captivates the imagination of tender young children. The Bible contains revelation on spiritual realities as well as principles to help us deal with practical life matters such as how to raise children, run a business or choose friends wisely. This wonderful book stands as the cornerstone in the construction of entire civilizations. For a Christian, the Bible is the Word of God. It is the standard against which every spiritual teaching is measured. Its life-transforming truths have changed the lives of billions around the world and will change your life too! The Bible has two main parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament covers from the beginning of creation to the time of Jesus. The New Testament covers from the time of Jesus to the end times, when God will finally judge all mankind and make a new Heaven and a new Earth. The best way to take full advantage of all this book has to offer is by reading and studying it on a regular basis. Here are a few more ideas to help you on your journey: Read the Bible every day. Just like your body needs physical food, your soul needs spiritual food which is the Word of God. If you read only two chapters a day during week days and three chapters on weekends, you will be able to read the entire Bible in one year. It is worth it! Start with the Gospels. The Gospels are the first four books of the New Testament and contain the story of Jesus’ teachings, His miraculous birth, life, death and resurrection. They are the best starting point if you are just beginning to read the Bible. Pray as you read. Ask God to speak to you and reveal His will to you. You will be surprised as passages will speak directly to situations you are going through in your life and will provide you with divine guidance for your decisions. Meditate on the content. Don’t read the Bible as a regular book. As a passage draws your attention, think about it over and over again until its truth renews your mind and transforms your life. Study it intentionally. More experienced Christians have prepared content that can help you understand the Bible. There are many resources you can use, such as online reading plans, videos and teachings. You can also use book resources or join a Bible study group at your local church where other disciples of Jesus will be able to help you learn more. Talking about a local church, this is by far the best place for you to grow more in your understanding of the Bible and that is also our next subject. See you tomorrow!
