[Kainos] Joy of Generosity

DAY 4 OF 6

Building a Legacy In his book called The Seven Money Types , Pastor Tommy Brown discusses seven different biblical characters and assigns a money personality type to each of them. David’s money type shows his leadership. Brown writes, > The next generation remains a top priority for David types, so as they charge towards their goals they’re always reaching back to the younger generation to bring them along. David types may have come from humble beginnings; perhaps they were often overlooked or ill-equipped by most people’s standards, but either someone gave them an opportunity to succeed or they overcame the odds and rose to the top. David types pay it forward, making sure the next generation does not start from financial scratch. True leaders leave a legacy to the next generation that they can build upon. David types set up the next generation for financial success. People with the David type of money personality want to set up the next generation. They want to pay it forward. If that’s not the beat of your heart, that’s totally cool. There are a lot of other money types. But it should be a bit of our heart as believers—the desire to build the church, help children, see the next generation come up, build a legacy. David types often come from humble beginnings. Remember, David is a king now, but he was a shepherd, the least of the shepherds, the youngest one in his family. David wants to give back to the next generation. There’s the joy of generosity; that is why David is doing this. He loves Solomon, and he wants to see the Kingdom of God go on. We, too, get to give to the next generation and build the church for decades. Wow! It’s an awesome opportunity, and it can happen by everybody giving their different gifts with one heart and one goal. Father, give us a heart that longs to support the next generation by building Your Kingdom.
