The Road Less Traveled - a Lent Journey for TeensSample

Showing Mercy to Others
It is better to give than to receive. When we show mercy to those around us, it brings life to our veins.
Many rivers flow into the Dead Sea in Israel, but no rivers flow out of it. However, the Sea of Galilee has many streams flowing from it, and we can find a lot of life when we follow them. This scene is such a beautiful picture of how life works. When we get full and don’t give, we become dead, but when we get full and share, we experience life.
This is the same way with mercy. The more we receive mercy from Jesus, and the more we give understanding to those around us, the more we see the life of Jesus flowing through us.
Exercise:
Think of someone you see every day. How can you show mercy to them today?
Prayer:
“Jesus, give me the grace to show mercy to my family and friends.”
Scripture
About this Plan

Lent is where we walk with Jesus for 40 days. We are going to look at the Beatitudes of Jesus. These are sayings from Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. We live in a world filled with uncertainty, fear and anxiety. The beatitudes invite us to live in a new way in this world of ours. Together, we are going to explore new ways to live life.
