In the Bible, we read that an angel told Mary and Joseph that they should call the baby Jesus. When He was born, the name Jesus was quite a common Jewish name. The name Jesus is a Greek form of the Hebrew name Joshua or Yeshua, which means Saviour.

There might have been lots of people with the name Jesus, so what was special about THE Jesus compared to all the others? The Bible tells us that Jesus would also be called, "Immanuel" which means God with us.

What a beautiful name, wonderful and powerful name the name of Jesus is, but it's not the name itself that has power. It's who it belongs to. Jesus was 'God with us' sent from God for the salvation of all mankind.

Jesus’ name is above all other names. Christ died and rose again for our sin. And because of who Jesus is and what He has done for us, His name has powerful meaning in our lives today. What a beautiful name the name of Jesus is!
