How to Deal With AnxietySample

How to deal with anxiety (Part 5)
I loved the email I received from a fellow Christian who is doing better than ever in dealing with her anxiety. Her secret? She wrote, “Group, group, group, group, group.” (I think she was trying to make a point.) When you’re stuck in your own head, it’s easy to forget to breathe, to cast your anxiety on God in prayer, and to mentally seek God’s Kingdom and righteousness. That’s why doing life together with other Christians in humble and honest confession is so essential. Because you can snap me out of it. You can bring me back to Jesus.
Proverbs 12:25 says, “Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.” A kind word from a friend, a pastor, or your small group is God’s way of helping you deal. A friend who says, “Okay, let’s breathe for a second.” A father who says, “Can I pray that God would take this away?” A group who guarantees, “King Jesus isn’t going to let you go.” Having a “group” is the way that God helps us deal with everything, anxiety included.
If you were my anxious friend, I would encourage you to breathe, pray, seek, and group. That’s the best way I know to deal with anxiety.
