Day 13 — Name Above All Names
Before God became flesh on the earth in the form of a baby, His Name had been chosen and announced first to His mother, Mary (Matthew 1:21). Names are important to God. We see this throughout scripture. But this Name, even more so. That’s because God declared it to be “the name that is above every name” (Philippians 2:9). Most people don’t fully understand what that means. It isn’t just a title, there is power behind the Name to accomplish the miraculous (Mark 16:17-18).
That’s what the song “Name Above All Names” celebrates.
Sleeping baby, Son of God
Rest now in your mother’s arms
Glory to You, Lamb of God
Slumber now, for soon Your light will come
The deaf will hear, the blind will see Your face
Great I Am and Living Water
Savior of the World
If you’ve never heard or practiced the power of Jesus’ Name that He has given you (Luke 10:19), this Christmas is your time! Here are a few examples of when you should speak the Name of Jesus.
1. Use the Name of Jesus Against Sickness. Mark 16:17-18 says that every sickness and disease must bow to the Name of Jesus. Speak the Name over yourself and others and expect sickness to flee!
2. Use the Name of Jesus to Rebuke Lack. Jesus came to give you abundant life and deliver you from every part of the curse. Say, “Lack, I rebuke you in Jesus’ Name. You’re not coming into my family. You can’t come into my bank account. Now, go!” (Philippians 2:9-10)
3. Use the Name of Jesus to Make Demons Flee. Deal with wrong spirits: strife, envy, suicide, murder, drugs, alcoholism, or any other. Say, “I command you in Jesus’ Name to take your hands off my family. I break your power and forbid you to operate anymore. I resist you in Jesus’ Name!” (Mark 16:17)
4. Use the Name of Jesus for Supernatural Protection. If you find yourself in a dangerous situation, call on the Name of Jesus! There have been countless miracles of supernatural protection and deliverance from harm through the all-powerful Name of Jesus. (Proverbs 18:10)
This Christmas, remember, when God was choosing a Name for Jesus, He wasn’t just choosing something He liked the sound of—He was choosing something that held great power!
