Advent: Prepare for the King of KingsSample

Should you totally surrender?
Can you imagine the horror and fear that must have gripped a young virgin by the name of Mary when her room was filled with the presence of an angel and eventually the Holy Spirit? It must have been a terrifying experience.
Have you ever seen angels or been overcome by the Spirit of God?
As we focus on Advent, I can’t help but humble myself before God. I’ve never seen angels, but I have been touched by the breath of God. I can assure you it was real and horrible and wonderful, all at the same time. God is real, and everything the Word says is true. The Bible says, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” (Proverbs 9:10, NIV)
I’m committed to remembering the first coming of Christ and preparing for the second coming of the King. The first time was marked by a humble Savior who didn’t fight back, but the second time will see Him be the Judge of the living and the dead. Wow!
I believe this is why Mary responded to the angel with these words: “. . . ‘Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.’ . . . .” (Luke 1:38, NKJV)
In the presence of God, there will be no arguments, pride, or defense, just total surrender. I’ve often joked that when I get to heaven, I will not ask God any questions—I’ll just fall to the ground. In other words, I’ll just duck. God is perfect, and I’m not. He’s holy, and I’m not.
Would you totally surrender to an awesome God? It’s really our only chance at forgiveness and mercy. This is one of the main reasons we are refocusing on Advent. It’s time to prepare our hearts and minds for His return. Whether it’s tomorrow or in a hundred years, preparation is the key.
When the Spirit fills you, great things will happen. You will give birth to miracles.
Because you’re a miracle.
