Advent in Israel: The Places of Israel & the Story of JesusSample

Day 7 - Southern Steps of the Temple
I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord!”
Our feet have been standing
within your gates, O Jerusalem! (Ps 122:1-2)
Every year for the Passover the people of God would approach the temple up the Southern Steps singing Psalms of ascent, proclaiming the promises of the Lord.
We believe that Jesus, who walked up those steps Himself, was the fulfillment of all of the prophets’ predictions and the people’s longings.
We often forget about God’s fulfilled promises in the hurry of the Christmas season. Don’t forget to pause and reflect, to “go up the house of the Lord” and spend time with the Savior who came down to earth.
How has God blessed you this year? Where have you seen His promises to you fulfilled?

About this Plan

As we enter the Christmas season, we are all eager to celebrate the birth of Jesus, the point in history where God descended into humanity to bring life to a broken world. Each day leading up to Christmas, we will provide an overview of the biblical significance of a location in Israel, along with a devotional prompt that will connect that location with the life of Jesus in Scripture.
