Next Level: PrayerSample
Prayer is super important. You have probably heard that before. But if you’re honest, how seriously do you take prayer? Do you treat prayer as a shopping list to tell God all the stuff you want? Do you only come to God to complain about all of the things going on in your life? Or do you take prayer seriously, showing God respect and talking to Him honestly about the areas you want to be better?
Prayer is essential because it connects us to God. The God who created you and loves you wants to spend time with you and hear from you- how amazing is that? When we pray, we open up the line of communication between God and us. Even Jesus, when He was on earth, took time to pray regularly. He knew how important prayer is in our relationship with God.
One day, when Jesus was teaching about prayer, he gave his followers clear instructions on how to pray. He even gave them an example prayer to follow. We don’t have to follow Jesus’ prayer word for word, but we can learn a few things about what to include in our prayers by learning from Jesus’ example.
This week, we’re going to dive into Jesus’ prayer, which is often referred to as “The Lord’s Prayer.” By learning about prayer from Jesus, we have the opportunity to make our own prayer lives stronger and deepen our communication with God!
Challenge: Take time today to read Matthew 6:5-13. Mark up the passage- highlight something that sticks out to you or make a note about things you want to remember. Do what you need to do to connect with this passage of Scripture. Then, take time to pray and ask God to teach you something new in this Plan throughout the week.
