Captive No More: Freedom From Pain, Shame and Guilt

DAY 11 OF 30

# Soul Scars > For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God. > Romans 8:20-21 Injury causes pain. It also causes scars that serve as a reminder of the pain and the injury. Unlike physical healing, emotional, mental, and spiritual injuries don’t heal over time. While the body launches into an immediate recovery phase after experiencing a wound, your spirit remains vulnerable. As a matter of fact, those injuries get more severe the longer left unattended. Time does not heal all wounds. If you are suffering and don’t think you need to trust opening up to someone, then you’re experiencing yet another reason why we remain trapped in pain: denial. We’ll go to just about any length to avoid something we have zero interest or understanding in. One of the most common ways we do this is by suppressing emotions about the event. ## Call To Action 1. Write out what you picture your soul scars to be. 2. Write out a list of who caused soul scars upon your spirit. 3. Write out a list of who on the previous list has yet to be forgiven by you. 4. Write out in detail how you have compensated in ways for avoiding having to deal with the pain. 5. Write out a prayer for your coming to complete healing.
