# Faith Thomas Edison once said, “Genius is 2% inspiration and 98% perspiration.” That is, genius is more about hard work than anything else. But without inspiration, nothing would be invented or created, and faith underpins inspiration. Without believing that something is possible, nothing happens. If an idea fails at the first attempt, then without faith who would continue? Even the genius of Thomas Edison required great faith. After over one thousand failed attempts to invent the light bulb, he stated with confidence and faith that he had merely found the one thousand ways that wouldn't work. And so, he kept on experimenting until he succeeded. Faith is powerful. In Christ, faith is at the core of everything. All the gifts of God rest upon faith. Salvation is promised to those who have faith. Freedom from sin and the law are given to those who have faith. Righteousness is based upon faith. Faith is the essence of our walk with Christ and faith is the power that fuels our Christian walk. God built His Church on the platform of faith too. To make salvation universally available, God designed a method that leveled the field through faith. Rich or poor, healthy or ill, able-bodied or frail, young or old, everyone has an equal opportunity to receive salvation in Jesus Christ through faith because everyone has the capacity to believe. But what should we believe? We believe that Jesus came to this earth. He lived and taught the Gospel of salvation. He died to set us free from sin and the law, and He opened the way for us to receive life. Through Him we believe we have access to God who gives us the Holy Spirit to comfort, guide, teach, protect and strengthen us. All these things happen because we have faith. Consider these questions: * Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God and that He died for you to set you free from sin? * Do you understand that all the promises of God rest upon faith in Jesus Christ? A prayer point: * Ask the Lord to help you understand the need for faith and to show you what to believe in Jesus Christ. Pray for the strength to grow in faith as you walk with the Lord.
