Comeback: An Easter Devotional for Kids

DAY 7 OF 8

## Jesus Is Buried ### By the Calvary Kids Team When my little sister was four, she had a pet fish. One day, she decided that the fish needed to be taken out of its bowl so she could pet it. The problem is . . . you don’t pet fish. As you can probably guess, the fish died and we had to say goodbye. This is a silly example, but maybe you’ve had a pet die that made you really sad. Maybe you’ve even had someone in your family die. Saturday, the day after Jesus died, was a very sad day for His friends, family, loved ones, and those who followed Him. ### Mark 15:42-47 (NIRV) "It was the day before the Sabbath. That day was called Preparation Day. As evening approached, Joseph went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body. Joseph was from the town of Arimathea. He was a leading member of the Jewish Council. He was waiting for God’s kingdom. Pilate was surprised to hear that Jesus was already dead. So he called for the Roman commander. He asked him if Jesus had already died. The commander said it was true. So Pilate gave the body to Joseph. Then Joseph bought some linen cloth. He took down the body and wrapped it in the linen. He put it in a tomb cut out of rock. Then he rolled a stone against the entrance to the tomb. Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joseph saw where Jesus’ body had been placed." 1. The disciples had been following Jesus around for over three years! How do you think they felt when they realized Jesus was dead? 2. What is something you do when you get really sad or angry? Do you think the disciples did the same thing? When Jesus died, His disciples were probably confused, angry, sad, and a whole bunch of other things. But you probably know that we celebrate Easter because something happened after that! Come back tomorrow find out! Dear God, thank You that You endured the sadness of Your own Son dying. And thank You that You are stronger than death, and give that same power to me today! Amen.
