In Mark 9, a father brings his demon-possessed son to Jesus’ disciples in order to be healed, but the disciples were unsuccessful in driving the spirit out of him. So the boy’s father pleads with Jesus to help. Jesus asks him, “How long has he been like this?” The boy’s father answers, “From childhood . . . if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” Jesus then answers, “If you can? Everything is possible for him who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father exclaims, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Jesus then commands the spirit out the boy, and he is healed. Again, the attributes of God are everlasting, faithful, good, generous, holy, unchangeable, infinite, just, loving, merciful, all-powerful, all-present, all-knowing, sovereign, and wise. Now choose five attributes of God that you have difficulty believing. Why do you struggle believing these to be true about God? Pray this week for God to help you overcome your unbelief.
