Winning in Marriage by Leading With Love Leading with love in your marriage will allow you to witness the fruit of love manifested repeatedly. There will be times however, where leading with love will be hard, if not impossible. Your focus will be on alleviating the hurt and pain you feel as a result of something your spouse may have said or done toward you, and your immediate response will be for them to feel the same level of hurt and pain you are experiencing. You want relief and your mind wants you to believe that if you do to them what they did to you, you will experience relief. In worldly marriage, this type of retaliation or pay back is common and expected because biblical principles are not lived. The best response for Christians should be to lead with love. In times, when you must address certain behaviors or actions, you are seeking understanding and unity, and not merely trying to blame and accuse your spouse for what they have done wrong. You desire clarity through confession, not because you want to have something over their head to bring up later. You are seeking the why of their actions or behavior so that you can forgive and move past what attempted to break up and ultimately destroy your marriage. Leading with love of Christ will encourage you to seek the support or professional help you may need so that your marriage can heal and restore through wholeness. Love covers, it protects, and forgives! When you look at the life of Jesus, you see how he consistently led with love though He suffered persecution, corruption, and even crucifixion. While on the cross, He asked God to forgive those who were crucifying Him when he could have easily asked God to condemn them to hell. When you follow His examples, it becomes easier and more desirable to lead with His love even when your spouse is unlovable in their words or deeds.
