The Nature Of The PropheticSample

The Nature Of The Prophetic

DAY 1 OF 10

Living a prophetic life is something that all believers can do. Simply put, being prophetic is to recognise the voice of the Father and communicate His heart accurately. The gift of prophecy, something we can all desire, is a spiritual gift whereby a person reveals God’s words, will, and intention to others. But in addition to hearing His voice and receiving revelation, we are called to reflect His nature. We are created in God’s image. We should have a recognisable identity, one which is stamped on us the moment we accept Jesus Christ as Lord. So, what is the nature of the prophetic? Prophetic nature is not related to your personality traits. The nature of the prophetic has nothing to do with whether you are loud or quiet, extrovert or introvert, fun loving or contemplative. The nature of the prophetic is defined by the godly character qualities that should exist as a permanent and essential attribute of every prophetic person. For something to be prophetic, it must come from divine revelation. It is about the spiritual, not just the natural. God is the source of all spiritual wisdom; without spiritual sight we cannot operate in the prophetic. The book of James describes the nature of this wisdom, “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” (James 3:17) Being prophetic means to be attentive to these character qualities in our lives and in our ministry. The nature of the prophetic should be a permanent part of our lives, not just something that surfaces when a prophetic gift is used publicly. While the expression of the prophetic may be different, the nature remains the same. Our callings might differ, our clarity of hearing will vary, but our purpose is constant: to hear God and express His heartbeat.
