PARTNERS A small department in a large company was producing less than it should. The management finally went to the employees and said, "Consider yourselves in a partnership. Here is your budget for personnel. Hire whom you want and divide the money as you want. Just get the job done." The workers did just that, and efficiency so increased that their salaries increased twenty-five percent. The point of the experiment was clear: a partnership works better than a pyramid in the business world. In the very first chapter of the Bible, we are told that we are in partnership with God. While God created the heavens and the earth, He left it to man to subject the earth. Note His instructions to Adam: "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." As the company did with their employees, God has done with us. He has given us ample talent and resources to fulfill our mission. We can only do this, however, through a right relationship with Him. Scripture reminds us of our partnership with God. In prayer, we are His partners. As we pray, His will is done on earth. We bind and loose by our prayers. We are His representatives in witness. God did not send angels to tell the story of Christ; He sent us into all the world. We are workers together with God.
