URGENT A minister in a strange city stepped from the taxicab and turned to pay the fare. He dropped his tip into the driver's hand and, as he did, he clasped it and said to him, "Good night. I hope to meet you in glory." The minister went to his hotel room giving no second thought to what he had done. About midnight, there was a rap on his door. It was the rough-looking cab driver. "Sir, I must see you tonight!" he said with tears streaming down his cheeks. "If I meet you in glory, I have got to turn around. Pray with me." There in the hotel room, the minister pointed him to Christ. Paul, in writing to young Timothy, cautioned him never to lose his sense of urgency. The day would soon come when people would turn away from the truth. Every moment had to count. The minister had done such a small thing, but it was all God needed to convict the cab driver of sin. It might be frightening if God would reveal to us the number of times we have failed to avail ourselves of such opportunities. They can never be recovered; they are gone for eternity. Note the urgency in Paul's words: I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom: Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. How many people will you meet today who do not know about Christ's love? Tell them about it.
