When I Feel Inadequate, God Is ALL-POWERFUL You might be surprised to hear that feeling or being inadequate is a blessing in disguise. It sets the stage for you to experience God’s power more fully and intimately. Almost always when God calls us to do something, we feel inadequate or incapable of doing it in our own strength. We have to rely on God’s power, and that’s exactly where God wants us to be, totally dependent on Him. That’s when the supernatural happens! The apostle Paul, who was one of the most influential people to ever live, struggled with feeling inadequate. He called it his “thorn in the flesh” and he begged God to remove it, but God said, “No, I have something better than your ability; it’s my power through your disability.” In today’s culture, everyone brags about their achievements. They post their finest moments on social media and edit out all of their flaws, but not Paul. Paul brags only about his weakness! He knew the secret: When we are inadequate, God gets all the glory. When we are weak, God is strong. When we aren’t enough, we get MORE of God—more power, more miracles, more victory! Lord, I love that Your grace is sufficient for me. Father, I want to be weak, because I want Your perfect power. You see my inadequacies, and You accept me just as I am. I run to You with my burdens and my weaknesses. I want to exchange them for truth, confidence, and purpose in You. Daddy, I believe that You can even transform my weaknesses into strengths. Lord, I don’t want to put any limitations on You. I put my hope and trust in You! Thank You in advance for shining through my weakness today. When I believe the lie that I’m inadequate, that’s when Satan gets a foothold. It’s almost like I take on that false identity and start agreeing with the less-powerful enemy. God is all-powerful. He is stronger than the lie of Satan. Why would I want to exchange His power for an inadequate power? God longs to come to our rescue. He longs to make us more than adequate. He prepares us and equips us.
