To view this video, visit your plan at www.Bible.com] I wrote the song Made a Way in the midst of an impossible situation. What begin as an ordinary day, ended with my wife laying in a hospital bed. To our surprise, her water broke at 21 weeks of pregnancy. The doctor was clear that the chance of our unborn child's survival was slim to none. With the odds stacked against us, we had nothing but faith to hold on to. The only way my son would live was if God would perform a miracle and "hold the water". While my wife was on bed rest for two months, I penned the words to this song: "You move mountains You cause walls to fall With Your power, You perform miracles There is nothing, that's impossible and we're standing here only because You made a way." In Exodus 14, the Israelites were also facing an impossible situation. After 400 years of Egyptian slavery, they were finally granted freedom. They left yesterday's pain eager to embrace tomorrow's hope. However, this excited expectation was abruptly shifted to frightened desperation. Pharaoh changed his mind concerning their freedom and sent his army after the Israelites. WIth the Egyptian army in aggressive pursuit, they became entrapped by the Red Sea in front of them. Their options were very limited; death, slavery, or perhaps a miracle. Sometimes it feels easier to accept the "inevitable" rather than expect the "impossible"! It is very comforting to know that God is not caught off guard by any insurmountable obstacle we may face. Although we may not be aware of a storm brewing, God, the Divine Weather Forecaster, is! God led the Israelites to what appeared to be a trap, with a victorious outcome in mind. God "held the water" and the Israelites experienced a radical victory through a passionate display of God's power and love. No matter what impossible situation you feel trapped by, look up and trust God to "hold the water". The same God who split the Red Sea for Moses, made a way for my son to survive, can also perform a miracle for you today!
