Justice: A Plan for KidsSample

## Story Have you ever thought about how much your parents or grandparents care about you? When you’re hungry, what do they do? Give you food! When you get hurt, they help you feel better. When you have a bad day or someone hurts your feelings, they ask you questions and help you have a better day. Our parents, or grandparents, do a lot for us, because they care for us. Is there anyone you care a whole lot about? I once heard someone say that justice, or fairness, can be best described as seeing someone else’s problem and making it your problem. That’s what our parents do, right? They see the problem of us not having food or shelter without them, and they give us food and shelter. ## Bible “The Lord has shown you what is good. He has told you what he requires of you. You must act with justice. You must love to show mercy. And you must be humble as you live in the sight of your God.” —Micah 6:8 ## Think If we were in a room with God that was one hundred million feet in the air and we got to see every person who ever lived, who do you think would be the best example of justice that we should follow? Jesus! Jesus came to earth and died in our place. You and I deserved death because we have sinned, but God loves each of us and wanted us to live forever with Him, so He forgave our sins by sending Jesus to die on the cross. He looked down from heaven and saw our problem of sin and made it His problem. Now, we know that lots of people have lots of problems, but some of these problems are really important to God. As Christians, God has given us the awesome job of helping all sorts of people because we know what it’s like to be helped by Jesus. He who was perfect made our sin problem His problem. Now, we are instructed by God to take on the problems and struggles of others in order to help them. ## Do Something Talk to your parents about problems people have around the world. Ask them about people who don’t have water or food or shelter or clothes. Then, together with your parents, come up with a way that you can help those people, just like Jesus helped you. ## Pray Dear God, thank You that You care so much about me that You sent Jesus to die in my place. Thank You for making my problem Your problem. Help me to see when people in the world aren’t treated fairly, and give me the courage to speak up for them and help them. Amen.
