"What Compels You?"
“What, when and where of your ministry is not as important as why you minister” is a key point from the conclusion of this week’s message. So why do you minister? Is it because we are persuaded to join a church ministry? Is it to fulfill an emptiness within? Is it because you are expected to fulfill a requirement? Or is it so you can tell your friends, family, or fellow church members that you are doing a work for Jesus? When we acknowledge our sin, repent, and accept Jesus as the sacrifice for our sins, then we are given new life – “old things are passed away, behold all things become new.” This new life in us brings love, power, and motivation to live. The “why” we serve is within us and comes from the source of our new life in Christ. From 2 Corinthians 5:14 we find the amazing phrase: “For Christ’s love compels us,..” (NIV). What more can we say? Because of His Love…
Your Love is amazing, Lord. Too much for me to understand, but I thank you for giving me Your Love. May Your Love fill me that I may be used for Your Will, not mine. May Your Love extend to others so they may know You and the power of Your resurrection to grant new life.
