Trusting God in Times of CrisisSample

Trusting God in Times of Crisis

DAY 3 OF 7

# What can I trust? In every crisis, people offer different solutions. Some may be useful, others may be harmful. We can become bewildered about who to trust. David was offered a solution by a well-meaning king, but he made a different choice. ## From an Africa Study Bible application note: Many times when we face new problems, we use solutions we have tried before. In Africa, we might consult diviners to solve our problems because that is what we have always done. David and all Israel were facing a great problem; someone was insulting the name of David’s living God, and he had to deal with the situation. To face a champion in battle, Israel dressed their champion like a great warrior with a shield, armor, and sword. The offered armor did not fit him, but David had killed the lion and the bear with his shepherd’s tools. So he rejected the military equipment. He went to meet the Philistine with a solution he trusted – the name of the Lord. What do you revert to when you face problems? Some depend on their money, their relationships, and their connections. But can these really help us? Perhaps they will work for a time but not permanently. God never fails us. We should trust in him when we face challenges. ## Today: List all the possible solutions to your current crisis that have been suggested by friends, books, newspapers and magazines, or social media. Ask yourself, “how will it help me now? How will it affect me in the long-term? Is it harmful to me or others? Does it honor God?”
