# 52\. Jesus ## Explore So this is our last study, we made it, and what a way to finish! The life of Jesus is nothing short of profound. If you find one thing in this life, let it be the life of Jesus, you can trust him, he will never let you down even when you feel like you have lost everything else. Idea 1: Teacher Jesus spends three and a half years moving around and teaching, he uses parables to unfold and unravel what the kingdom of heaven is all about, and who the king of it is! Jesus doesn’t only teach in the places people expected, the temples and religious forums, he takes the teaching to the streets. Public teaching from boats, hill tops and from tables after eating. He draws in sand and teaches, he points to vines and fish and teaches. Jesus not only speaks in ways that his audience can understand, what he teaches is truth with authority. Lots of people were amazed at Jesus the teacher, but that’s as far as they ever were willing to go….who do you say Jesus is? Idea 2: Healer The Bible is loaded with the miraculous stuff that Jesus did to show his authority and announce the coming of the kingdom. He healed the sick, the lame and the broken, he raised some to life again, literally from death back to life in front of others. Jesus healed with just words, in some cases he didn’t even see the person who was needing the healing, just sent the word. Loads of people decided to follow Jesus when they could see what he was doing, he drove out demons and was setting people free, even from leprosy! The crowds gathered and they were well up for following Jesus the healer. What about you…who do you say Jesus is? Idea 3: Son of God? Jesus didn’t only teach, heal and stamp his authority as the son of God like this, he also forgave people’s sins.  This is no small thing, and in actual fact, once the religious elite of the day heard Jesus saying this they began plotting to kill him. You see only God can forgive sins, so Jesus turning up saying that he can too only meant one thing, he really was the Son of God and operated with the same authority. Now here is the rub, Jesus knew this was all going on in the hearts and minds of those who were following the teacher and healer, so he says this. "Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.” This just got real, the invite isn’t to follow Jesus the teacher or healer, it is to be willing to count the cost, die to our selfish hearts and say yes to Jesus, the Son of God! ## Action Who do you say Jesus is? Is he Lord and Saviour? A healer? Teacher? Good man? Or is he your everything? ## More?
