ON TOP: YOUR GUIDE TO HOLISTIC SEXUALITY

DAY 5 OF 7

The Body Scripture shows us that God created us. He created our bodies, and He created us as sexual beings. Sometimes it feels as if Christians believe that God created us (ears, legs, eyes, etc.) and then Satan slapped on the genitals. Well, no. God created all of us. Our bodies (often, but not always, influenced by the mind) respond to sexual stimuli. And so, if God created all of us, we do not need to feel ashamed of these natural sexual urges. God created our bodies with primary sexual characteristics (e.g. vagina, ovaries, penis, testes) Sexual anatomy: Internal and external sexual organs The female body and male body have different anatomies — external sex anatomies would be genitals and internal anatomies are reproductive organs (like ovaries). It's also important to note that some people are born intersex, which means they have variations of both male/female anatomies and chromosomes. Not all female anatomies look the same and neither do male anatomies, with many different sizes and colors in existence. It’s common to wonder if you look ‘normal’ and this is because the media and porn industries, in particular, give us a false standard for what our bodies need to look like. However, understanding how your body works and believing God created you this way will allow you to have a positive relationship with your body and help you to make healthy choices based on a strong self-esteem. Reflect: * Do you have a positive relationship with your body? Why or why not? * How do you take care of your body? For example, eating healthy, going for walks, positive self-talk. * Are you knowledgeable about human anatomy? * What parts of your body are you thankful for?
