Scripture Jesus knew the Scriptures inside and out. He often quoted from them, and referenced the them in His teachings, when faced with temptation, in His normal, and everyday conversations. How does one get to know something so well? By spending a lot of time with it. As a Jew, Jesus would have grown up immersed in the Hebrew Scriptures. It’s likely that at around age 4 or 5, hH would have gone to the local school where memorization of the Jewish Scriptures was a major part of the curriculum. Scrolls lived in the Temples and Synagogues. It wasn’t like today where you could access a Bible 24/7 from anywhere in the world. So, the way that you kept things in front of you was through memorizing it. If you’re Bible got taken from you, could you still keep Scripture in front of you?
