Some of us struggle to believe God is concerned with our happiness, because we think, “if God cared about my happiness, He wouldn’t be letting me go through this.” “He wouldn’t let my family fall apart.” “He would get me a job.” He wouldn’t let me struggle so much financially.” “If God cared about my happiness so much He wouldn’t let my kids stray.” And if that’s where you find yourself this season, then today’s verse is for you. Not only is God aware of what is going on, but He cares deeply. He takes it very personally, just like any loving parent would when their child is hurting. Ultimately, His depth of care and concern is what motivated Him to get involved by sending His son, Jesus. As you begin this reading plan, try and schedule a consistent time to pause and reflect on God’s promises to you. This is best done in a quiet place where you can focus without distractions. We all need to be reminded that we are not forgotten, especially during difficult seasons. Rewrite or re-read today’s verse as if God was saying it to you personally. (ie. “The Lord is near your name , especially when you're hurting.”)
