5 Days Of Understanding The Bible From Always Near

DAY 3 OF 5

Second, memorize verses that speak to you. As you find a verse such as Philippians 1:6, you may want to memorize it. Write it on a card and read it aloud several times a day: When you memorize a verse, it’s with you forever, and its truth sinks deeply into your spirit. Proverbs 7:1–3 tells us to store up God’s commands within us and write them on the tablets of our hearts. I began doing this in childhood through Bible memory programs at school and church. In recent years I’ve rededicated myself to working each day on a passage of Scripture. Currently I’m learning Psalm 113, which contains this wonderful image of God: “Who is like the Lord our God, the One who sits enthroned on high, who stoops down to look on the heavens and the earth?” (vv. 5–6). As you learn a verse by heart, keep a record of it and review it. As time goes by, your assortment of memorized verses will become your most valuable collectibles.
