I Have Questions: Is Vaping Okay?

DAY 2 OF 5

Have you ever been in a situation where you couldn’t see where you were going? Maybe you had to get up in the middle of the night to a dark house. Or maybe you were in a movie theater that was almost completely dark. When we can’t see clearly, our potential to trip, fall, or hurt ourselves goes way up! In the same way, we all face decisions that can make us feel like we’re walking through the dark—situations where things aren’t exactly clear and we’re unsure of what the right step is to take. Oftentimes we call these situations “gray areas.” In those gray areas of life, our potential to make a mistake goes way up when we can’t see clearly. Things like drinking, smoking, vaping, going to that party, skipping that class, or saying that thing might all be considered gray areas in your mind. After all, they don’t always seem to have any immediate negative effects, so what’s the big deal? The good news is that even in these gray areas, God wants to be our light. That’s why the author of this psalm described God this way: You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light (Psalm 18:28 NIV). You see, God wants to give us the clarity to know the right next step to take. All we need to do is ask Him for help! When it comes to our gray areas, we can ask God questions like . . . · Is this decision what’s best for me and for others? · Does the decision put me in a position where I have to lie to other people? · Based on who I want to be a few years from now, is this wise for me? Are you facing a “gray” situation right now? If so, pause and ask God these questions. You might be surprised at how quickly you figure out what the next right step is to take.
