Peter encourages Christians to look forward to Jesus’ return and to be found faithful still following after Him when He returns. He explains that God’s patience in ordering Jesus’ return is because He wants as many people saved as possible. Believers are to be diligent in not only looking for Jesus’ return but in witnessing to the lost so that many can be saved. We are to use this time to demonstrate His grace and mercy to a world who doesn’t know Him. What am I spending this time on earth doing? Serving and entertaining myself with things that will perish or gaining souls, eternal treasures for Christ? Will you pray and ask God for His sense of urgency and His compassion for those that are lost?
