He set them in place from all time to eternity; He gave his orders, and that’s it!” Psalm 148:1-6 (MSG) Every morning when we wake up, creation is singing a song; the one that was started when the world began as God breathed life across all of eternity. The creation of flowers, mountains, birds, waves- even people- sings a melody, praising God for life and the abundance of love we feel from Him. The song of creation serves as a daily reminder of so many things. First, creation reminds us that our God is creative. From the color of the sky, to the specific color of our eyes, He is the ultimate Artist. He paints with a wide variety of vibrant tones and textures. Yellow moon. Blue sky. Green grass. Rainbow sunsets. Our world is a kaleidoscope of colors. Second, creation reminds us that God is sovereign. He has authority over every living thing—from the birds of the air and the flowers of the field to you and me. He keeps everything in its place, from the Milky Way to the rising tides and our beating hearts. They all start and stop at His hand. Third, creation reminds us that God is a proponent of beauty and truth. He intends for us to enjoy and maintain the loveliness of His creation. Finally, creation reminds us that we exist for the sole purpose of glorifying God. Luke 19:40 says that even if we don’t worship our Creator, the rocks will cry out in praise. Just like the rocks that form the foundation of the earth, we were created to praise our Creator for all eternity.
