### The First Woman - Israel of God Thoughts on the Passage The rest of the book of Revelation is a story of three women: \-- the Israel of God \-- the prostitute of Babylon \-- the bride of Christ These three women describe mankind, God fulfilling His promises to mankind and mankind’s eternal destiny. Again, they represent three different wings of an art gallery or museum. We will walk through each wing of this gallery, and we will see in pictures the outcome and destiny of each woman. The picture of each woman at the start of each section gives us an understanding of how God sees them – all are beautiful, but one is evil and used her beauty to seduce the nations. The first woman (this wing of the gallery) is Israel. However, it is not all of Israel. It is the portion of Israel that follows God – in the Old Testament, she is known as “the Remnant” and we will refer to her as the “Israel of God”. This woman has great promises awaiting her and many in the churches came from this Jewish background. We will see God’s promises unfold to these Jewish believers in the pictures given. Also, we will see many pictures that mix the Old Testament promises with the Lamb of God – Jesus. To these Jewish people, Jesus is the Messiah promised by God and represents God’s fulfillment of His promises to the nation. This Messiah was promised to Eve in Genesis 3, He was promised to Abraham in Genesis 12, He was promised to Judah in Genesis 49, and He was promised to David in Micah 5:2. Jesus will fulfill other promises that God gave to His people – becoming a blessing to the nations and becoming a King on David’s throne. All of the promises will find their fulfillment in Jesus. We see many pictures in this wing of the gallery that applies both to this woman and to the Church today. We can both lay claim to these promises – because we are both connected to Jesus. The promises released through Jesus are for both women. Prayer Father, this is a wonderful wing of the gallery. We will see how You choose to fulfill the destiny of Your people Israel. As a child of God and one who receives the promises of Abraham, I look forward to seeing how You will keep Your promises to Your people. There is much that You can teach me through this passage. Give me the heart to comprehend the great and precious promises that You have given to us. Give me an understanding of how You keep those promises even to me today. May the same encouragement that the people of God received as they first read this letter, encourage me today and strengthen my heart today. In Jesus Name, Amen.
