True Worship

DAY 2 OF 5

## True Worship ## by ## Rocky Fleming ### Day Two– Silence In the past when I worked in the business world, I often barged into prayer as if it is another busy task to get through so I can get to the next project in the day. Even now in full-time ministry I have to watch this tendency of mine, for I am as busy as ever doing “the Lord’s work,” as if that is an excuse. I’m not alone in this. I bet you know what I mean don’t you? We can say it is not true, but the truth is in our practice, not our belief system. We can believe in the power of prayer, and we can become reverent long enough to close our eyes and say things such as our rote prayer to Almighty God, but do we really prepare to meet Him in true reverence and respect? Do we forget Who we are addressing and understand the privilege granted to us to come before Holy God? Do you pause and think of these things before addressing the King of Kings? I’d like to share some thoughts about how silence can prepare a person for worship. I will share what has helped me. It helps me to begin my prayer by quieting myself before the Lord, and remembering Who I am approaching. Silence is a good way to do this, but honestly, we can be silent with words and at the same time have our minds and thoughts racing with things to do. The silence I speak of is allowing those things we bring into our prayer time a moment of being put aside for a greater purpose, which is adoration. Adoration of God is recognition of His majesty and Who He is. We often admire God for what He has done in history, and for what he has done or is doing in our life. But we neglect adoration of Him, by not worshiping Him for Who He is. When we quiet our self before the Lord both in words and thoughts, we begin a process of worship that takes us to a place that true worship can occur. I ask you to read the attached scripture and think about what David was thinking when he wrote it. I also recommend listening to one of your favorite worship songs. One great one is "Let It Rain." Look it up on YouTube or your music app. It will help you to develop a sense of awe, which is a good place for worship to begin. Allow it to prepare you.
