Giving up ALL worldly pleasures (the man, this verse talks about, sold 'all' that he had) for Jesus and His kingdom gives us immeasurable pleasure that is far greater and a boundless joy that is far superior and longer-lasting! In fact, eternity-lasting (Ps. 16:11). So, let's do it! Jesus not only talked about this joy. He walked His talk. Hebrews 12:2 talks about this. Here it is: "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Yes, Jesus endured the cross for the joy set before Him. He underwent excruciating pain en route Golgotha and even while he hung on the cross. All for the joy set before Him! Let us follow the Jesus method of experiencing joy—true joy!
