A Moment With God

DAY 6 OF 61

WAIT FOR THE LORD Waiting is not a comfortable word. It requires courage and patience. To know what waiting is, we should ask the mother who gave birth, a student who has received his results, and a loved one who is discharged from hospital. All of them will give us the same answer. Waiting expecting the best outcome is never easy. Most times waiting is mixed with anxiety and fear. When we are not sure about the person to whom we have entrusted the responsibility, there will be anxiety. The Psalmist talks of waiting as a precursor to triumph or victory. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. In the Bible, the word WAIT is more an attitude than an activity, for to wait on the Lord is to trust him. God will make a way where there seems to be no way. He works in ways we cannot see, He will make a way for us. David called out to the Lord when he was in desperate straits. He prayed saying: Hear O Lord when I cry with my voice. On one hand, he cries out to the Lord, saying: Hear my cry, do not hide your face from me. On the other, he testifies expectantly: Wait on the Lord. Be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart. This is the David who is shown as a man to be after God's own heart. Sometimes, we too go through that kind of struggle and wonder where God is. Many times, we too have cried out to the Lord, saying, Lord have mercy upon me. In order to grow as believers, we must learn to wait on the Lord. When we surrender to His timing, He does mighty things in and for us, according to His will and His timing. God acts on behalf of those who wait for Him. Let us remember, God specialises in showing His power in hopeless situations. Israel was in that place when God parted the sea before them. Daniel was protected in the lion's den. Paul and Sailas were delivered from prison. He will make a way for us too. If life seems to be closing in, let us not despair. Let us trust God. He has promised to make a way. We wait for the Lord, we place our trust in His Word and rest peaceful knowing that our Lord is working behind the scenes. We have a great God, an awesome God, Almighty and all-powerful, loving and caring God. Our unknown future is secure in the hands of our all-knowing God.
