DAY SEVEN: SELF-IMAGE “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” Psalm 139:14, NIV LISTEN Nick Vujicic was born with no arms or legs. Depressed by all the teasing he experienced as a kid, he nearly gave up. One day he discovered the secret of looking at himself through the eyes of God, instead of the eyes of people. He now lives a full life, working hard to overcome his disability. He shares this message with people all over the world: No matter how unattractive, untalented, or uncool people may think you are, you are special because God loves you. Understand this, and you will begin to rise up into your unique, God-given purpose and potential. We need to learn how to see ourselves through God’s eyes, not through the eyes of society and other people. Then we will realize that we are beautiful, loved and valuable, and have a special purpose – no matter what anyone says. Knowing this will help us to stop comparing ourselves with others, and begin appreciating ourselves and others more – no matter what our or their looks, talents, behavior, or social status.
