Not About a Bunny: Explaining Easter to Your Kids

DAY 6 OF 6

Empty Tomb = Full Hearts!

Today we celebrate the empty tomb! The account of Jesus’ death ends in victory—victory over sin and death! That is the true message of Easter Sunday.

Why is the resurrection of Jesus an essential element of our salvation?

The resurrection proves God’s power! Only the God who created life can resurrect it. In Jesus’ resurrection, God reminds us of his power over life and death.

The resurrection validates who Jesus claimed to be. Jesus repeatedly claimed to be God, and his power over death is irrefutable evidence. He claimed that he would be raised to life again, and his claims were proven true.

In John 11:25 (NIV), Jesus claimed, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.”

Jesus' resurrection makes our eternal life possible. He gives life. He is life. Death has no power over him. Those of us who believe in him will one day live with him forever.

Today we celebrate because Jesus’ tomb is empty! His resurrection shows that God accepted his sacrifice on our behalf. He conquered death and gave us life.

Are you celebrating his resurrection today as a child of God or as an onlooker? Have you accepted his gift of salvation, guaranteeing eternal life with your Savior? If not, we encourage you to believe today.

Would you like to share the importance of Jesus’ resurrection with your children? Check out these Easter activities.
