Lent Devotional: RestoreSample

Restore: God is restoring wonder “When God speaks, hope rises and an inextinguishable light exposes wonders we never knew existed. As beleaguered listeners we are transformed by news of a kingdom and government coming that will restore justice and righteousness to his creation. This comes through the Son who was given and described as the Wonderful Counsellor; Jesus Christ.” In our reading today, the word wonderful is a translation of the Hebrew word pele . It conveys a sense of supernatural awe – that which requires God as its only explanation. Tearfund’s work not only helps people restore their lives in physical and material ways, for example self-help groups in Ethiopia, but can also help those living in poverty to see the wonder of God. It is only the Son, given for us, who can restore the full wonder for which we were created. Our Father, we thank you for sending your one and only Son to be the Savior of the world; to restore the wonder of the purpose for which we were created; to glorify you and enjoy you forever. Lord, help us today to live supernaturally; in a way for which only you can be the explanation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
