Hearing from God at the Event Have you ever noticed that you can be in the same room as someone else, hearing exactly the same thing, yet each of us hears something completely different from God? I sure do. As I write this, I am returning to Brisbane from the first ever Hillsong Worship & Creative Conference in Sydney. I entered the conference with a sense of expectation and anticipation for all God would do and say. I found I had to make a decision before entering Sydney that I would let nothing become a barrier between myself and what God was saying. I think there is so much value in approaching events with the right posture. God is always trying to reach out to us. However, it is up to us to be receptive to His voice. In Hillsong Church, we run an event called Summerfest, which is essentially a big Young Adult’s retreat on an island. At this event so many of our Young Adults hear from God and get direction for their year and build life-long friendships. The reality is that God could speak to us anywhere, because God is a speaking God. He wants to speak to us and often it just requires us to be receptive to all He wants to say. Prayer: Lord, you know exactly what you are going to speak to us individually each new day. I pray that we would have open ears to listen to all you have to say to us, that we would be ready and expectant to hear, because it is a privilege to hear from you. Amen. (Written by Justin Boal)
