The Lent Project is an initiative of Biola University's Center for Christianity, Culture and the Arts. Each daily devotion includes a portion of Scripture, a devotional, a prayer, a work of visual art or a video, a piece of music, and a poem plus brief commentaries on the artworks and artists. The Seven Last Words of Christ refers to the seven short phrases uttered by Jesus on the cross, as gathered from the four Christian gospels. This devotional project connects word, image, voice and song into daily meditations on these words.

Jesus was a master storyteller. He knew that the timeless principles He was trying to articulate would be best remembered through storytelling. He often spoke through parables to (1) communicate a more profound truth, (2) make His teachings more accessible to those who were ready to hear them, and (3) confound those who refused to listen. Welcome to a plan that is designed to go slower together. 

We wanted to take things slow to allow for better meditation - one chapter a day covering every major division of the Bible. We staggered the order as well in order to keep things fresh. We have chosen a book from the Torah, historical books, the poetic writings, and the Prophets from the Old Testament. And, in the New Testament we have a Gospel, Pauline epistle, Hebrews, and the Revelation.

One a Day

This devotional explores how God used teachers in the Bible to impart wisdom, guide His people, and reveal His truth. Through these examples, we will see how teaching is a divine calling that influences generations and glorifies God, inspiring us to embrace teaching in our own lives.

How God Used Teachers in the Bible

The Discipleship 360 Reading Plan is designed to help disciples deepen their understanding of the Bible through a structured, thematic, and comprehensive approach. This plan aims to facilitate growth in worship, community, and mission by encouraging participants to read, memorize, and apply the Word of God.

Each week includes five readings and a memory verse, with a specific focus aligned with eight overarching themes covering the Old Testament and most of the New Testament. This foundational study is beneficial for new disciples of Jesus and discipleship groups.
