Ecclesiasticus 49

49
Josiah
1The remembrance of Josi´ah is like the composition of the perfume that is made by the art of the apothecary: it is sweet as honey in all mouths, and as music at a banquet of wine. 2#2 Kgs 23.4-8; 2 Chr 34.3,7,33. He behaved himself uprightly in the conversion of the people, and took away the abominations of iniquity. 3#2 Kgs 23.3,25. He directed his heart unto the Lord, and in the time of the ungodly he established the worship of God.
The Last Kings of Judah and Jeremiah
4All, except David and Hezeki´ah and Josi´ah, were defective: for they forsook the law of the most High, even the kings of Judah failed. 5Therefore he gave their power unto others, and their glory to a strange nation. 6#2 Kgs 25.9; 2 Chr 36.19; Jer 21.10; 34.2; 36.29; 37.8; 38.23. They burnt the chosen city of the sanctuary, and made the streets desolate, according to the prophecy of Jeremiah. 7#Jer 37.15; 38.6; Jer 1.5; Jer 1.10. For they treated him evil, who nevertheless was a prophet, sanctified in his mother's womb, that he might root out, and afflict, and destroy; and that he might build up also, and plant.
Ezekiel
8 # Ezek 1.1,4-28. It was Ezekiel who saw the glorious vision, which was shown him upon the chariot of the cherubim. 9#Ezek 13.11; 38.9,22. For he made mention of the enemies under the figure of the rain, and directed them that went right.
The Twelve Minor Prophets
10 # Ecclus 46.12. And of the twelve prophets let the memorial be blessed, and let their bones flourish again out of their place: for they comforted Jacob, and delivered them by assured hope.
Zerubbabel, Jeshua, Nehemiah
11 # Hag 2.23. How shall we magnify Zerub´babel? even he was as a signet on the right hand: 12#Ezra 3.8,9; Hag 1.14; Hag 2.7-9. so was Jesh´u-a the son of Joz´adak: who in their time builded the house, and set up an holy temple to the Lord, which was prepared for everlasting glory. 13#Neh 3.1—6.15. And among the elect was Nehemi´ah, whose renown is great, who raised up for us the walls that were fallen, and set up the gates and the bars, and raised up our ruins again.
14 # Gen 5.24; Ecclus 44.16; Heb 11.5. But upon the earth was no man created like Enoch; for he was taken from the earth. 15#Gen 45.7,8; Gen 50.24; Exod 13.19; Josh 24.32; Heb 11.22. Neither was there a man born like unto Joseph, a governor of his brethren, a stay of the people, whose bones were regarded of the Lord. 16Shem and Seth were in great honor among men, and so was Adam above every living thing in the creation.
