Luke: A 10-Day Devotional Reading PlanBeispiel

Crucify Him!
Morning has dawned on the last day of Jesus’s earthly life. The Jewish authorities, the Sanhedrin, have imprisoned him on a trumped-up charge of blasphemy, which, according to Old Testament law, deserves the death penalty. And that’s exactly what these leaders demand because they hate Jesus so much. So Jesus is dragged from one place to another, suffering mockery and physical abuse, until they get their way. But all those murderous participants don’t yet know that God is the one controlling these events and overseeing every detail for the good of his people.
Reflection:
Like so many others, Pilate didn’t want to deal with Jesus, so he pushed him away. Do you find yourself pushing Jesus away when following him proves costly? We might not renounce him outright, but sometimes we want to keep some part of our lives— a habit, a desire, a relationship—just for ourselves. Is there something like this in your life, and if so, what will you do with Jesus?
