Serving Christ
Galatians 1:10
“Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
At the center of our beings we are motivated by desires. Some have called for the absence of all desires in the hope of achieving spiritual freedom. The Bible calls us to focus our desires on pleasing God and living for his glory. The gospel of grace sets us free from having to earn salvation and releases us to live with grateful devotion to God who has saved us through his sacrifice on our behalf. The religions of the world all involve some human effort to attain spiritual freedom. The gospel of grace is God’s gift of salvation. However, the evidence of that salvation is that we serve Christ and live for his approval. The fear of man and the approval of others keep many from knowing and serving Christ. Once we experience salvation in Christ, he becomes our new center.
Lord Jesus, you are my Lord and I serve you this day with joy! Thank you for freedom from men- pleasing ways and for the joy of serving you!
