The Resurrection is Good News
Acts 17:18, 31
“…‘He seems to be advocating foreign gods.’ They said this because Paul was preaching the good news about Jesus and the resurrection…he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead.”
Paul’s preaching focused on Jesus and his authority to judge the world and each person who ever lived. The essential proof of Jesus’ claims to be God was his death and resurrection according to prophesy.
Do we still understand and proclaim the resurrection today as the key to the gospel?
The resurrection of Jesus was the firstfruit; but all those who know Jesus will also be resurrected from the dead. They will live with Christ forever. The good news hasn’t changed. The message of the resurrection sounds no stranger today than it did 2000 years ago. Everyone must face death, and for those who have repented of their sins and surrendered their lives to Jesus, death is no longer a barrier but a doorway to eternity with Jesus.
Lord Jesus, I pray for boldness to share the good news of Jesus and the resurrection this day.
