Worship and Witness
1 Chronicles 16:8-9
“Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts.”
The rhythm of worship and witness begins David’s first psalm for the tabernacle. Although the tabernacle was on Mt. Zion, David’s attention was on the throne-room in heaven. He worshiped the Lord of all the earth. His worship led to bearing witness of what God had done. This witness extended to all the nations. The world was David’s congregation. David’s worship and witness extended far beyond the limits of Jerusalem and the worshipers who gathered there. When our worship refocuses our attention on the Lord of all the earth, our witness and our mission is to introduce our amazing King and Lord to the nations.
Lord Jesus, you are the King; thank you for all you have done in revealing yourself to us in Christ Jesus. Thank you that the nations are hearing of your wonderful acts.
