Our Refuge
Psalm 31:8, 20
“You have not handed me over to the enemy but have set my feet in a spacious place…In the shelter of your presence you hide them from the intrigues of men; in your dwelling you keep them safe from accusing tongues.”
When we pour out our hearts to God and find refuge in him, he provides both a spacious place and a shelter - freedom in our spirit and a sense of security and belonging, and we need both. Freedom begins on the inside of our lives, not in our circumstances or physical location. David was running from Saul and other betrayers, but he experienced peace and freedom in his spirit and soul. He knew that God was his deliverer and defender. When our thoughts are at peace, our body is at peace.
Lord Jesus, you are my peace. Thank you for your protection, deliverance and refuge this day.
